Introduction The three other sections in the "About Lewis Carroll" menu on the left offer information about Carroll's life and works. In each case, there are several levels of information, links to other pages and website, and references to printed material. In this section we offer a further range of facilities to help readers and researchers, including lists of recommended books, links to other sites and fact pages compiled by experts within the Lewis Carroll Society. Most of this material was originally compiled for other purposes and still requires further development. Subject Specific Reading Lists This page contains lreading lists for anyone wanting to investigate specific subject areas such as mathematics, photography, etc. A list of references on a very specific aspect of Carroll's life. Diverse Fact Pages Brief notes on many of the important Oxford people in Lewis Carroll's life. A comprehensive list of the connections between Lewis Carroll and the game of chess. The National Museum of Photography Film and Television This major museum has, in its vaste collection, a number of prints and negatives of Carroll's photographs, one of his cameras and other relevant items. Online Research Facilities The Carroll Forum (at proboards) This new "bulletin board" style of forum opened in March 2008. At the time of writing, it is difficult to know how things will turn out, but it is supported by many of the members of the defunct Yahoo Group and is likely to be popular. Although no longer active this was the busiest Carroll related discussion group on the web for several years and its archive is stil active. There was a mixture of contributors with some real experts amongst them. As with any discussion group there are a few whose responses need to be taken with a pinch of salt and some have their own biases, but generally, it was a good place to visit if you wanted an answer to a basic Carroll related question and its archive is still worth searching for that reason. Lewis Carroll Site (managed by Edward Wakeling) A new site run by Edward Wakeling, editor of Lewis Carroll's diaries and author of several books about Carroll and his work. Contains the text of talks and other material. Perhaps the most significant section, so far, is the comprehensive list of Carroll's photographs. A 'virtual tour' of Christ Church, Oxford. A site with a fresh approach to Carroll scholarship and one which is developing quite quickly. For many this is perhaps the best source of scholarly information on the web? Lewis Carroll Scrapbook and Supporting tools This site reproduces the Lewis Carroll scrapbook at the Library of Congress together with some useful and interesting tools. Discover the places in England that captured the heart of some of our best-loved authors including Lewis Carroll. Lewis Carroll in his Own Account The publication of Lewis Carroll's bank account is a remarkable contribution to Carroll scholarship. The detailed transcription of the ledgers with accompanying notes and an introductory essay presents the researcher or writer with an unusual perspective on Carroll's life. This website describes the publication, how to obtain it and has an on-going list of additional observations about the material. University of Texas Online 'Exhibition' The Harry Ransom Research Center at the University of Texas hold one of the most signficant collections of Lewis Carroll material in the world. Their website contains a lot of useful information and images relating to Carroll and is a useful resource for researchers at all levels. 19: Interdisciplinary Studies in the Long 19th Century An online journal on 19th century studies, of a high standard.
